US, Armenia Outline Framework for Strategic Transit Corridor
This declaration followed a meeting between US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan at the State Department, where they reviewed advancements on the corridor and broader cooperation between the two nations.
The initiative, referred to as the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), is designed to connect mainland Azerbaijan with its Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic via southern Armenia. The agreement was formalized at the August summit by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and US President Donald Trump.
According to the framework document issued by the State Department, the “TRIPP Development Company” will oversee the planning and execution of the infrastructure. The United States will hold a controlling interest, while Armenia will supervise specific reserve matters.
Initially, the company will possess development rights for 49 years. Armenia plans to allocate a 74% stake to the US while retaining 26%. The arrangement is expected to be prolonged for another 50 years, with additional equity granted to Armenia, raising its share to 49%.
The enterprise will administer railway, roadway, energy, and digital infrastructure along the designated transit paths within Armenian territory. Armenia will maintain complete sovereignty over all project zones, including the authority to apply its laws and regulations consistent with both domestic and international standards.
