Bridge work planned on Missouri Route 87 in Cooper County
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Crews working with the Missouri Department of Transportation plan to begin rehabilitation work next week on two bridges along Missouri Route 87 in Cooper County: over Petite Saline Creek and over Clarks Fork Creek.
Crews will begin moving equipment to the site on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 14 and 15, with work on the bridge supports beginning Wednesday, Sept. 16 at the bridge over Petite Saline Creek, approximately 1.3 miles south of I-70. Work is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
Most of the work will take place underneath the bridges, including some erosion control measures, and minimal traffic impacts are anticipated during construction. Motorists should be alert for additional truck traffic entering and exiting Route 87 near the work zones. Work on both bridges is expected to be completed by the end of October.
All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
At its May 2026 meeting, the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a $515,468.20 contract to Widel, Inc. to complete work on both bridges.
